Many years ago, kids of all ages played what they commonly referred to as, “shiny-ball hockey, street hockey, or the pickup game.” Today, we call the game DekHockey. If you play the game, then you understand the friendly competition. The Us DekHockey Federation organized DekHockey in the United States and became its governing body.
If you remember the 1970’s, then you know people played DekHockey, a simple neighborhood game. Because of the efforts of a group of people lovingly called the “Founding Fathers”, the game transformed into an organized sport for recreation. They established the US DekHockey Federation in 2013 to standardization the rules and promote friendly, safe competition.
In Leominster, Massachusetts, a group of hockey enthusiasts – lead by Ray Leclerc – founded Mylec, Inc., a street hockey equipment company. Their vision produced four new and essential elements for the game including safe equipment and pads. They designed the plastic surface on which people now play. The design specifically enhances form and safety.
