John brings passion to the sport and to the USDHF. John has been a star player, coach, teacher and overall mentor. John’s unique experience in life and business has given him the tools to succeed in sales and marketing. His no nonsense approach to soliciting sponsors for the USDHF and willingness to teach these skills to others makes him a valuable asset to our organization.

David Helenius owns and is President/CEO of Roehr Tool Solutions Inc., a Leominster, MA Based
Manufacturing Company. His company manufactures components for the plastics industry. His
professional background is in engineering and business.
David began playing organized Dekhockey in 1980 at the age of 12. The local school systems
offered the sport. He continued to play through the senior division. However, in 1999, he took
time off from the sport to raise his two boys, Eric 16 and Alex 14, both avid Dekhockey and Ice
In 2007, David began coaching youth Dekhockey in Leominster at the Penguin level. His
coaching continues as a Cadet Minor coach, achieving many championships along the way.
In 2010, David formed the Twin City Hornets youth tournament team. They achieved
championships in both the “A” and “B” classes. Their events include the US Nationals, the New
England Classics, The Raiders Cup, The Mylec Cup, as well as others.
David formed the Roehr Hornets In 2013. Once again, he plays competitive Dekhockey in the
senior divisions of Leominster, Fitchburg, and Athol.
David possesses great organizational and team building skills and enjoys extensive European
travel experience as well.
As General Manager of the USDHF Juniors Division, David promises to bring organization, clarity
and formality to the sport as we select and prepare teams to compete internationally as TEAM
